Can You Benefit from Orthodontics?
You may benefit from orthodontics if you have any of the following dental issues:
- Difficulty chewing or biting due to gaps and spaces in between teeth
- Crowded, misplaced or protruding teeth
- Open bite (when the upper and lower teeth don’t touch when the mouth is closed)
- Crossbite (when the upper and lower jaws are misaligned)
- Overbite (when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth)
Traditional Orthodontics: Braces
Braces are made of brackets and wires that are affixed to the teeth. Braces can come in metal or tooth-colored ceramic (which match the color of natural teeth). Braces are worn 24/7 typically for six months, depending on the severity of the misalignment.
Short-Term Orthodontics: Straighten Your Smile in Five Months
Atlanta Smiles & Wellness is proud to offer an alternative for patients with mild to moderate teeth alignment and who wish to straighten their teeth without metal braces. Clear Image Aligners are thin, removable alignment trays made of thermoplastic that gradually shift teeth to the desired position. A set of aligners are worn for approximately three weeks and then replaced with another set that moves the teeth to the next desired position. Patients need to wear four to six sets of aligners for approximately five months. Aligners must be worn for approximately 23 hours a day and only removed for brushing, eating and cleaning. Patients love Clear Image Aligners because they are generally more comfortable to wear than traditional braces. And thanks to their clear design, patients can straighten their teeth as discreetly as possible!
Choosing an Orthodontic Treatment
Drs. Dina Giesler and Marianna Kovitch are meticulous when creating each patient’s orthodontic treatment. During your initial consultation, the dentists will evaluate your teeth and jaw, and take intraoral and facial photographs and panoramic and cephalometric X-rays. They will also take impressions of your teeth and bite in order to determine the severity of your misalignment. Your personal preferences will also be taken into consideration.
